some things that hurt

I’ve spent most of the past 2 days without pain meds… but I have learned some things that really hurt…

1. sneezing

2. burping

3. hiccups

4. accidentally turning onto the side i had surgery on…

5. (this one doesn’t hurt… it is just frustrating) Needing to blow my nose… but I can’t

these are my insites for now.

  1. Hi there. My name is Stephen. I had my cochlear implant surgery 9 months ago. Still learning how to hear. I am glad to have found your blog. I also have one about my experience. http://smy2ci.blogspot.com

  2. Oh, and for me there was pain opening my mouth wide to eat or to yawn. It eventually passed.

    • oh yes… for the first few days, my jaw hurt as well. apparently I have a funny shaped jaw and they had a hard time getting the breathing tube in… but that is much much better now!

  3. You are doing so well! Make a list of questions for your next visit, so you are prepared. 🙂

  4. I had a really sore throat this time. I usually have a raw feeling the first day and it’s gone the next…my throat is still a bit sore. (after 5 days) They told me I have the perfect shaped jaw/throat…I’m easy to incubate. So I wonder why they scratched me so much?

At least you remembered you couldn’t sneeze. I woke up half alseep in the middle of the night and blew my nose…oh my goodness.

I had a tube in that ear, and my surgeon removed it, but it drained a lot the first few days…gross! And it really hurt if I coughed, sneezed, anything. The drainage has stopped…Yay! and just 2 days until I can wash my hair. But I may wait until the weekend….I’ve been a bit dizzy, want to make sure I have help.

Good luck with activation….Today, I believe! Mine is one week from today.
